Welcome To
Basic Quilt Construction...
When a quilt is created, various steps are taken and various costs are involved in the construction.

  • First,  there is the pattern and fabric selection.  This step includes one consultation with the quilt maker at the fabric store of choice.  This will provide the selection of a pattern and the fabric needed for the quilt top.  There is no charge for this consultation when an order for a quilt is placed.

  • Second,  is the quilt maker's labor cost. This is a typical per hour cost that includes fabric preparation, the cutting and piecing of the fabrics for the quilt top assembly.  The more complex a quilt pattern is to assemble will be reflected in the final price.  Quality will not be rushed.  Accuracy and neatness will not be sacrificed and can be achieved in a timely fashion.

  • Third,  is the machine quilter's labor cost.  This cost is determined by the actual machine quilter.  This price is based on the quilt pattern, size of the quilt and the amount/type of quilting needed.  This cost is a variable one.

  • Fourth,  is the quilt maker's binding cost.  When the quilt is returned from the machine quilter, a binding(or finished edge) is machine applied and then hand stitched to completed quilt.  This cost is determined by the finished quilt size and the type of quilt edging desired.

Please keep in mind when planning for a quilt that the costs are a reasonable      estimate and your cost may be higher or lower than originally anticipated.       Keep in mind that it could take up to 14  weeks for a custom quilt to be             completed once it has been started.  Any concerns, please discuss this with        me via E-mail.
